Plenty to see in Southern Jutland
The campsite is an ideal base for days out in the scenic countryside and to the many places of historic interest in Southern Jutland. On the Danish side of the border, for example, there is Queen Ingrid’s favourite castle, Gråsten, which dates back to the 16th century and has beautiful grounds with some 40,000 flowers.
A historic trip to Dybbøl Mølle mill can be combined perfectly with a round trip in the border land. Five-six kilometres before you come to Sønderborg towers the white-painted mill.
From Kollund, it’s not far either to the charming German town of Flensburg, which was close to voting to become part of Denmark prior to the reunification. A flying visit across the border to the shopping centres in North Germany can by all means go to Flensburg, which has good pubs, fabulous shops and a pedestrianised street, which has finally been declared finished after enduring many years of compressed air noise. At the end of the street is the town's best baker's shop.
It is a prosperous old port, and the town has its own car park for camper vans close to the eastern side of the fjord. Please note the low bridges in several places along the way!
